Colour forecasting

After I read about the background of the brand,the background of Dolce & gabbana,the personalities of Dolce & Gabbana ,analyzed its fall winter collection andlooked for its advertisement, I believe Dolce&Gabanna will use these colors as the main colors in Fall/Winter 2009/2010.

I forecast these colour for the F/W 09/10 Collection in four direction.

1.The colours they always use for the collection in the past years

It's easy to discover that Dolce&gabbana love to use black&white as their main colour of every collection.We can all check about its collections that never depart from these colors.However,everyone know that it's boring to see the whole collcetion in black and white.
In order to draw attention and give a fresh look to people, they love to use some sharp colour like red, to stand out from the whole collection.Also,I think red is their favourite sharp colour because we can see these colour in most of the collections.Therefore, I think that they will use these colour in the F/W 09/10 collection.

One of the symbol of Dolce&Gabanna is patterned fabric(animal's print).I believe that animal's print will still appear in the F/W 09/10 collection as this kind of print is hit in the coming year.Therefore,I do think that animal's print with black and white or black and yellow will appear in the collection.

2.The personalities of Stefano Gabbana and Domencio Dolce

As they said in the interview by Tim Blanks,Eighty percent of Domenico loves to go somewhere new, to develop an idea, and the other 20 percent goes back to the roots. Gabbana is the opposite: 80 percent from the roots, 20 percent from the future.Dolce is more projected into the future, and Gabbana is more attached to his roots, and the balance is Dolce & Gabbana.
It mean that Dolce & gabbana will still keep their style DNA(cultural colour of catholic's clothes-black,corset,sharp tailored coat and trousers)and draw in some new style or some change of their trademark(e.g.bra--"We love to change. My favorite piece is the bra from 1984. And we continue to do it. One season it’s bigger, or we change the color, the stitching, and everything. But I love looking for something different."Gabbana said)
The colour-black they love to use is inspired by the Catholic's clothes.I can't find the reason of using the colour of catholic's clothes.They may be a catholic or they just love the national costome of catholicism.However,with the evidence of their favourite colour-black,I forecast they will still use black colour in the F/W 09/10 collection.

3.The negative view of the colour forecasting process-financial benefit

"Cruise, pre-Fall, on and on . . . You think the customer understands them? Needs them? I don’t think so. Only the fashion system understands. But I don’t work for the fashion system. I work 80 percent for the customer."Gabbana said.
"For three seasons we worked on volume, not shape, and in the end, you know what the customer said? No! All the magazines were saying it’s not about sexy, it’s about volume, but in the end, our women said no. It’s always the same—all men and women want to be sexy. In the last three seasons, when we tried to change shapes with the new volume, customers altered the shape in the shop to be tighter—like before."Gabbana said
People who loved Dolce&gabbana have a great impression with sexy style,black corset,black bra.They still want to buy "the style of Dolce&Gabbana"or just with some change of it.Therefore,I think that this brand will still keep their style and element.

4.The positive view of the colour forecasting process-trend prediction information

According to the research(from wgsn and peclers paris),the early colour overview for autumn/winter 2009/10 are fundamental colour(black,grey,white),only red,experimental green,yellow,gingers colour(copper,tea),brown.I believe that Black,white,Red,brown will be the main colour of F/W 09/10 collection.



To conclude,I forecast that Dolce & Gabbana will use Black,white,Red,Brown,golden yellow in Fall/Winter 09/10 collection .

-opened the show in a bright tangerine parka slung over one of the duo's signature pieces, the black corset dress.

-Dolce & Gabbana's mannish suits and shapely dresses keep women coming back, and they'd never let a passing trend distract from that.In a season when menswear is a rising trend, Dolce & Gabbana's pantsuits and shirting looked bang-on relevant.

As the girls—including Elvis' angelic granddaughter Riley Keough, in demure black velvet—clustered on the orchid-pink leatherette banquettes of the Regine's-inspired disco set, one model sped past in a high-neck, long-sleeve black lace gown that looked conservative enough for Mrs. Bush. Until she turned her back, revealing the sheer, unlined lace back that flashed an emerald-green bra and panty set. Perfect for the next Super Bowl.

Fall 09 Collection

The thirties and forties references played through the displaced gloves used as headpieces and scarves, the shell-shaped buttons, ballooning shoulder ,the clunky wartime suede platform wedges, the homages to Schiap's shocking pink, and, of course, those huge, puffed-up leg-of-mutton sleeves, rising up in some cases to earlobe level. The spending on luxe materials and a cinematic level of beauty never ceased. Fox, dyed goat hair, mink, and rich brocades were worked into narrow-waisted silhouettes, alternating—though not much—with bell-shaped skirts.
